This is one of my favorite places. Butternut Lake.  ...the story goes, that the land you see straight out from the dock,  Shatterack Island, which is owned by my cousins' family, was won in a poker game by their grandfather in the 1920's...however it came into the family, I love to visit each and every time.

See Like Shane

I am a long way from where I come from:  physically and mentally, but I never forget where that is.

I grew up in a tiny town in the north woods of Wisconsin, (Park Falls to be specific) surrounded by thousands of acres of timbered forest, dairy farms and a myriad of lakes and streams.

I was far too restless to stay there, but the feeling, the connection and even some of the ideology remains within me.  I love the familiarity that small town life brings and I endeavor to mimic that feeling tone in the work that I do.  I really want to share a sense of place and understanding of the people, places and things I capture through photography.  My first sense of belonging was that I didn't...not in the country, not in the city, not anywhere.  Somehow, through some, let's say a lot...of introspection I now know that I belong everywhere, and that connection is what I love to experience; place after place alongside current and yet to be made...friends .
